Innovative, Non-Surgical Vein Therapy in Atlanta

Varicose Veins are More than a Cosmetic Problem.
They’re a Serious Health Risk.

There’s a common misconception that varicose veins are just a cosmetic problem, and this just isn’t true. Varicose veins are the result of poor circulation in and out of the leg that can lead to serious problems. At Atlanta Medical Clinic, we provide effective, non-surgical solutions for our patients with diseases of the veins, and can help create positive outcomes for those suffering from venous disease.

Left untreated, varicose veins can cause diseases of the skin, inflammation, and wounds that don’t heal, vein rupture, and bleeding as well as blood clots. They can also lead to uncomfortable symptoms including painful swelling and tenderness, burning, muscle cramps, and the feeling of heavy, tired, and achy legs. Worst case scenario, they can lead to blood clots.

With effective treatment, by removing and closing the varicose vein, blood will naturally take an alternate path to healthy veins. Those veins then take over a healthy blood flow, returning blood from your legs to your heart.

Immediate Relief is Now Available

The good news. Medical advances have now made it possible to effectively treat Varicose and Spider veins non-surgically with very little pain and phenomenal results.

That’s why Atlanta Medical Clinic is offering our patients the most advanced and most effective non-surgical technologies. All procedures are minimally invasive outpatient procedures that allow you to get back to activities the same day. Relief from the discomfort and dangers of Varicose Veins are just a doctor’s appointment away.

Advanced Non-Surgical Procedures We Offer

Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)

Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) is a minimally invasive alternative to traditional vein stripping. It’s done by inserting a very small tube called a catheter into the vein and delivering RF energy to the vein wall. This causes the vein to shrink, collapse and seal shut. Once it’s sealed, healthy veins take over and redirect blood flow back towards the heart. The RFA procedure can be performed under local anesthesia in a physician’s office, and most patients return to normal activity within a day.

Who Should Not be Treated?

Patients should wait at least three months after pregnancy or major surgery before being treated for vein disease. Persons with deep vein thrombosis or incompetence, and patients who cannot ambulate are not good candidates for treatment.

ClariVein OC
ClariVein OC is a slim, thin catheter your doctor uses to deliver medication (chosen by your physician), into the diseased vein through a pin-sized entry point. Using a unique rotating tip, the medicine is delivered to cover all 360 degrees of the vein.

The delivered medication helps to close the varicose vein allowing blood to naturally take an alternate path through healthy veins, restoring blood flow, reducing discomfort, and improving overall cosmetics.

What the Patient Should Expect

ClariVein is a simple outpatient procedure performed in our office. Because it’s only a pin-sized entry through the skin, studies have shown that ClariVein can be faster and less uncomfortable than other minimally invasive peripheral vascular procedures.

The pin-sized entry does not require anesthesia (pain numbing) medication along the length of the treated area. This shortens the time the procedure takes and also helps to eliminate bruising.

You can return to normal activities the same day.

Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy uses a thin needle the size of a hair shaft to inject a liquid into the veins. The injected solution irritates the lining of the vein causing it to stick together and then disappear.

Sclerotherapy is extremely effective for most patients. It is estimated that between 50 and 80% of injected veins may be eliminated by each session. Sclerotherapy is especially effective for spider veins.

What the Patient Should Expect

Sclerotherapy is done in our clinic and patients can drive themselves home and return to work and regular activities the same day. After the procedure, the treatment area is wrapped. Compression stockings can be worn for several days after treatment.

About Varicose Veins

What Causes Varicose Veins

In a healthy vein, there are minuscule one-way valves that direct the flow of blood. In the case of varicose veins, these tiny valves malfunction. As a result, the blood leaks backward and pools. That causes pressure to build. The veins then become enlarged and visible near the surface of the skin.

Symptoms Treated

Because of the lack of healthy blood flow, unhealthy veins can cause several painful conditions including:
  • Painful Swelling
  • Cramping
  • Heavy, Tired, Achy Legs
  • Restless Legs (especially at night)
  • Numbness in the lower extremities
  • Weakness
  • Swelling and Discoloration of the Skin

Health Concerns

It’s important to understand the varicose veins are more than just a cosmetic concern. With poor blood flow can come skin conditions and intense itching. Worst case scenario, there can be vein rupture and bleeding, as well as blood clots. If you are dealing with varicose veins, we strongly recommend you be proactive and consult a physician about potential treatment.
