Varicose Veins

Varicose veins are swollen veins that develop near the surface of the skin. Varicose veins can turn up anywhere, but they are generally found in legs and feet. Veins that function normally allow blood to flow towards the heart to prohibit blood from flowing backward. If this malfunctions, blood builds up in the veins, weakens their walls and causes them to swell. Over long periods time, the added pressure can cause further valves to break down. This venous insufficiency, leads to the development of varicose veins and spider veins.

Spider Veins

Spider veins are a group of tiny, dilated veins that are close to the surface of the skin and look like spider webs or tree branches. They’re commonly red or blue.

Varicose veins and spider veins are common in people over 50. Oftentimes, these abnormal veins have no symptoms, but they can sometimes cause throbbing, cramping and swelling. In some cases, they may become painful or cause blood clots or skin sores.

If you’re experiencing any of these painful symptoms, be sure to give us a call today to schedule your free consultation with one of our board-certified physicians.

Vein Treatment Options at Atlanta Medical Clinic

ClariVein®IC is a minimally invasive, new technique for the treatment of varicose veins or spider veins. Using a controlled 360-degree dispersion of physician-specified agents, ClariVein®IC is designed to reduce pain and discomfort, eliminate bruising, speed up recovery and deliver clinically proven results for varicose veins.

Sclerotherapy uses a tiny needle to place a sclerosant solution into the varicose veins. This causes the veins to collapse, close and get absorbed into the body.

Sclerotherapy is done in our clinic and patients can facilitate a quick return to work and regular activities. After the procedure, the treated area is wrapped. Compression stockings can be worn for several days after treatment.
